Prague Christmas Markets 2026: Dates, Prices and a Day-by-Day Plan
Prague, Tchéquie

Svařák (mulled wine) on Old Town Square costs 80 to 120 Kč, plus a refundable 50 Kč deposit on the mug. At náměstí Míru, below the steep steps of the Church of St Ludmila, the same cup is 60 to 80 Kč. Entry to the indoor fair at Letňany is 80 Kč on the door, 40 Kč booked online.

Day one on Old Town Square and Havelské tržiště

Old Town Square Christmas Market (Vánoční trhy Staroměstské náměstí), Prague
Old Town Square Christmas Market (Vánoční trhy Staroměstské náměstí), Prague

White-roofed wooden huts pack in around a giant lit spruce in front of the twin Gothic spires of the Týn Church, a life-size wooden nativity to one side and the Astronomical Clock tower just off the square. Old Town Square Christmas Market (Staroměstské náměstí) counts 82 stalls plus three charity huts, with a daily stage. It opens on 28 November 2026 and trades 10:00 to 22:00. It is the only market in the city that keeps going to 6 January 2027.

Trdelník is 80 to 120 Kč here, and prices across the square are the city's highest. Entry is free and nothing on the square takes a booking, whatever the size of the party. Go at 10:00 if you want the huts before the press of people builds, because this is the most crowded spot in Prague in December. Agree a meeting point first, the tree or the clock, and keep a hand on your bag; pickpockets work the crush.

Havelské tržiště (Havel's Market) is two minutes from the square, a double row of canopied stalls running the length of a narrow arcaded Old Town street, pastel Baroque façades and stone arcades overhead. It trades Monday to Saturday 07:00 to 19:00, and Sunday from 08:00. Prague's oldest market street fills in December with ornaments, mistletoe and gingerbread, set out beside the fruit crates. Fruit goes by weight, souvenirs 50 to 500 Kč.

Day one evening on náměstí Republiky and Wenceslas Square

České vánoční trhy – náměstí Republiky (náměstí Republiky) sets two clusters of stalls on a busy paved square hemmed by the Art Nouveau Municipal House, the blackened Gothic Powder Tower and the glass front of the Palladium mall. It runs 25 November to 24 December 2026. Mulled wine is 70 to 90 Kč. Wide pavement separates the two stall areas, which gives a party somewhere to stand and regroup. It sits on the main walking line between Old Town and the shops, so it works as a warm-drink stop on the way through.

Wenceslas Square Christmas Market (Václavské náměstí) is ten minutes' walk from the main square, run by the same operator on the same dates and the same hours. The stalls form one long lit line down the middle of a wide sloping boulevard, the neo-Renaissance dome of the National Museum closing the view uphill, trams crossing at the bottom. Count 27 stalls, weighted to sausage and svařák over crafts. Food and drink come in 10 to 20% below Old Town Square. The linear layout moves people through far more easily than the main square does, and nothing is reservable.

Day two in Vinohrady

České vánoční trhy – náměstí Míru, Prague
České vánoční trhy – náměstí Míru, Prague

České vánoční trhy – náměstí Míru (náměstí Míru) is the first market to open each year, on 20 November 2026, and it closes on 24 December. Stalls fan out across the cobbles with Vinohrady apartment blocks and the Vinohrady Theatre around the edges. The decorations are Czech-made and the food sits 20 to 30% under Old Town prices. This is the market locals pick, one metro stop from Wenceslas Square, and it is free and unticketed.

Advent na Jiřáku (náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad) is a working farmers' market that puts on artisan and food stalls through Advent, confirmed by the organiser for 28 November to 23 December 2026. Svařák and hot food run 60 to 150 Kč. The hot-drink stands keep standing tables, the one place on this walk where you can set a cup down. Stalls ring Plečnik's Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord, a dark glazed-brick block built like a liner, a huge round glass clock set into its tower. A St Nicholas procession comes through in early December; build the Vinohrady day around that week if you can.

Day three on Kampa and Mariánské náměstí

Malostranské Vánoce na Kampě (Kampa) takes a cobbled riverside square directly under the arches of Charles Bridge, pastel Malá Strana houses on three sides, the wooden water-wheel on the Čertovka mill race a few metres away. It is the prettiest setting of any Prague market and the best for Czech craft: blown glass, straw ornaments, marionettes. Glass ornaments and wooden puppets start at 150 Kč.

The square is small, so split a party over about eight people or you will block the stalls. The residents' association that runs it had not published 2026 dates at research time. Expect early December to Christmas Eve, 10:00 to 21:00, and confirm before you plan a day around it.

Vánoce na Mariánském (Mariánské náměstí) is city-run, and the huts are staffed by non-profits and sheltered workshops. Your money does something here. Handmade gifts are mostly 100 to 500 Kč, and stalls usually open 11:00 to 19:00 across Advent. The square is small and intimate, beside the Baroque Clam-Gallas Palace and the cubist-era Municipal Library, its decorations drawn from Josef Lada's snowy folk illustrations, an 8 m spruce trimmed in blue and silver. The market runs annually, though published listings disagree on the 2026 dates, 1 to 23 December against a run to 6 January. Check which before you walk over.

Day three afternoon at Anděl in Smíchov

Vánoční trhy Anděl (Nádražní) is confirmed by the organiser for 28 November to 31 December 2026, a run of stalls down a broad Smíchov pedestrian strip, 1970s concrete metro entrances and the glass Anděl office blocks behind. Prague comes here for cheese, sausage and Christmas carp, and in the last days before Christmas Eve the carp tubs stand out on the paving. Food and drink cost less here than anywhere else on this walk. You get no tourists and no souvenir stalls, and nowhere to sit down.

Manifesto Market Anděl (Anděl) keeps 14 kitchens, a big beer bar and a live stage under cover, heated for the winter season, which is running now. Festoon bulbs and green walls overhead, a piano in the middle. The après-ski-style tent in the music zone is held at 24°C. Mains are 250 to 400 Kč, cocktails 200 Kč. The site is cashless, and you can swap cash for a prepaid card on arrival. Tables for parties under 20 are walk-in; for 20 and more, the events team has private spaces to book. Keep it as the evening fallback when it rains.

Saturdays on the Náplavka quay

Náplavka Farmers' Christmas Market (Rašínovo nábřeží), Prague
Náplavka Farmers' Christmas Market (Rašínovo nábřeží), Prague

Náplavka Farmers' Christmas Market (Rašínovo nábřeží) trades on four Advent Saturdays and no other day: 28 November and 5, 12 and 19 December 2026. The quay opens at 08:00 and the stalls are down by 14:00. Expect 90 to 100 of them, with most food 80 to 200 Kč.

The line runs along the stone Vltava embankment, the round glass-fronted doors of the old quay vaults behind, boats moored on one side and the Vyšehrad rock rising downstream. The 12 and 19 December markets stretch the whole way to the Výtoň clock. This is the best food-and-gift market in the city and it is finished by lunchtime, so arrive at opening. Bar barges and vault cafés sit behind the stalls when you want to sit down with what you have bought.

Three fixed December weekends

Vánoční hrnčířské a řemeslné trhy na Výstavišti, Prague
Vánoční hrnčířské a řemeslné trhy na Výstavišti, Prague

Vánoční hrnčířské a řemeslné trhy na Výstavišti (Výstaviště) brings 150 potters and makers from across Czechia for 5 and 6 December 2026. Doors are 10:00 to 18:00, with covered and open sections. Craft stands fill the ground in front of the iron-and-glass Art Nouveau Industrial Palace, its central clock tower lit above rows of stacked ceramics and strings of bulbs. Mugs and bowls start at 200 Kč. The quay market runs the same Saturday morning: do the quay first, come here after, and walk back through Letná park.

Dyzajn market Winter (Holešovická tržnice) opens for 12 and 13 December 2026, 10:00 to 18:00. Around 200 Czech and Central European designers set up in the 19th-century brick market halls of industrial Holešovice, stalls spilling half indoors and half across the cobbled yard between the halls, street-food trucks along one edge and somewhere to sit. Designer pieces typically run 300 to 3,000 Kč. Those two days are the whole of it, and it is where you buy the gift nobody else will have.

Stříbrné vánoční dny (PVA EXPO PRAHA, Letňany) is the biggest indoor Christmas shopping fair in the city. It opens 3 to 6 December 2026, Thursday to Saturday 10:00 to 18:00, and closes at 16:00 on the Sunday. Children under 140 cm go in free. Aisle after aisle of decoration and gift stands sits under steel roof trusses and flat white light, with craft workshop tables along one side. The hall is flat, step-free and at the end of metro line C. It suits an older or mixed-mobility group, and it carries none of the Old Town feel, so keep it for the day the weather turns.

Closures and what to pin first

No outdoor market takes a booking and the Letňany fair is the only ticket, so pin the single-weekend dates and the four Advent Saturdays before anything else, then build the walking days around them. Confirm the Kampa and Mariánské náměstí dates before either anchors a day, and remember that most of the squares stop on or before Christmas Eve.

See the Prague guide and the Prague hotel search.
